Queen Alexandra’s House has accommodation for approximately 100 female students in single rooms.
Each bedroom is furnished and typically includes:
Bed and side table
A desk and bookshelves
We provide all bedding (sheets, duvet and cover, pillows and pillowcases) and residents are responsible for laundering their bed linen. Rooms are cleaned once a week. There is full central heating and hot water. There are student kitchens with basic cooking facilities on each floor and a laundry room.
Food at Queen Alexandra’s House is tasty, healthy and nutritious. Breakfast and dinner are served every day in the dining room. On Saturdays and Sundays, lunch is also served. Dinner includes a wide range of dishes including dessert. The last week in the Summer term is bed and breakfast only.
Queen Alexandra’s House has extra advantages for music students; it is close to the Royal College of Music (see map), and has a large number of practice rooms with pianos. Students sometimes give informal performances in the social area attached to the dining room.
There is a television room, a computer internet room, and wireless internet access in most areas of the House
In a community of more than 100 girls, certain rules are necessary.
As a resident you will need to show consideration and respect for others, and be willing to adapt to the well-being of the community.
Guests can be accommodated if there is a room available at £50.00 (students £35.00) per night, inclusive of breakfast, the evening meal and VAT. We have one self-contained flat available for parents/guardians (price and availability on application).
The Principal reserves the right to terminate a student’s residence.
